Personal Branding Is Becoming the Real Advantage in Sotogrande Real Estate with Silvina Hood

Guest: Silvina Hood, Leadership, Persuasion and Communication Coach

I recently sat down with Silvina Hood, who has worked alongside us at Noll Sotogrande for almost a decade and has played an important part in how our marketing has evolved. She originally came into the business through social media and digital marketing, but today her work has moved into communication, persuasion and leadership, helping professionals become more confident, visible and effective in the way they communicate.

What made the conversation interesting was that we ended up connecting two worlds that are actually much closer than they first appear: real estate marketing and personal communication. Because whether you are selling a property, building a company or leading a team, the same problem keeps appearing. It is no longer enough simply to be good at what you do. People need to understand who you are, what you stand for and why they should trust you.

Why Sotogrande Real Estate Marketing Has Changed

When Silvina first started working with us in 2017, social media was much simpler. Facebook, a little Instagram, some Google advertising and a website were enough to make progress. Today the speed of marketing has completely changed. You launch, test, receive feedback and adapt almost immediately.

But one thing has not changed: many real estate agents still think marketing means uploading listings.

A house is the product, but trust is what usually gets the client through the door. That is why podcasts, YouTube, market commentary and personal branding have become such an important part of how we communicate at Noll Sotogrande. People want to know the person behind the agency before they make contact.

Personal Branding in Real Estate Is About Trust, Not Attention

Silvina made a point I strongly agree with: many businesses see what leading American real estate agents are doing, but take too long to actually apply it. The difficulty is that personal branding in real estate is not simply turning on a camera and posting videos. You have to become comfortable being visible, develop a point of view and actually have something useful to say.

That takes time. I know that myself. I am naturally much more introverted than people probably assume, but being able to communicate publicly is something you can learn. The more you do it, the less it becomes performance and the more it simply becomes another way of having a conversation.

And that authenticity matters because clients can sense very quickly when something is forced.

Communication Is More Than the Words You Use

This is where Silvina’s work has moved beyond traditional marketing. Her approach to public speaking and leadership communication focuses not only on what somebody says, but how they show up physically and emotionally.

She often says that your energy speaks louder than your words, and I understand exactly what she means. You can say all the correct things, but if your body language, confidence or presence says something different, people notice.

It is the same in property. A client is not only listening to your explanation of a house. They are deciding whether they trust your judgement. That is why communication, confidence and personal brand are becoming increasingly connected.

Why Confidence Is Built One Step at a Time

We also spoke about fear and the blocks people create around visibility, public speaking or simply putting themselves forward. Silvina’s approach is very practical: make the step smaller.

People tend to look at the final result and become overwhelmed by the distance between where they are and where they want to be. Whether you are afraid of speaking on camera, presenting to a room or even driving, the answer is usually the same. Break the problem down until the next step feels challenging but possible.

Then take that step. It sounds simple, but most progress probably happens exactly that way.

What Sotogrande Has Taught Us About Change

Silvina first came to Sotogrande when she was 27 and remembers immediately feeling something she had rarely experienced before: safety. At the time, though, Sotogrande was much quieter. For somebody young, without a car and looking for constant stimulation, Málaga made more sense.

Ten years later, she sees Sotogrande differently.
